On January 23, 2024, the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board issued a Final Written Decision confirming the patentability of claims 1-13 and 16 of G&S client Smart Mobile Technologies LLC’ s U.S. Patent No. 9,019,946. The decision was issued in IPR2022-01249, which had been filed by Apple and Samsung. G&S co-founding partner Philip Graves principally represented Smart Mobile in the matter, including at the oral hearing before a panel of three Administrative Patent Judges. G&S is concurrently representing Smart Mobile in pending litigation against Apple and Samsung alleging infringement of the ‘946 patent as well as other Smart Mobile patents.
